Well-Being For Kids & Families

Growing, learning and discovering together

Childhood is full of growth, discovery and change. It’s a time when kids are learning about themselves, building confidence and figuring out what they enjoy.

Everyday experiences, like trying new foods, moving in different ways, connecting with others and finding moments to reset, can help shape how kids feel, learn and grow.

What supports well-being at this stage

There’s no one right way to support well-being. Every child is different.

Kids benefit from opportunities to:

  • play, explore and try new things

  • connect with others, feel cared for and included

  • develop confidence as they learn what they like and need

  • experience routines that support rest and recharge

Small, but intentional opportunities to explore well-being over time can make a big difference.

Ways to explore well-being

  • Food is about more than what we eat. It’s also about experiences, traditions and the relationship we build with food over time.

Kids benefit from opportunities to explore a variety of foods, including fruits and vegetables, and to be part of everyday moments like helping plan and cook meals. These experiences can build curiosity, confidence and connection to family, culture and community.

This might look like trying new foods, learning where food comes from, helping in the kitchen, growing fruits and vegetables or sharing time together around meals.

  • Movement is about finding ways to move that feel good and enjoyable. It doesn’t have to look a certain way or be structured to make a difference.

Kids benefit from opportunities to move throughout the day through play, games and everyday activities. When movement feels fun, accessible and connected to what they enjoy, it’s more likely to become part of daily life.

These experiences can build confidence, support focus and help kids feel good in their bodies as they grow.

This might look like playing outside, dancing, making up active games, playing sports, or simply taking time to stretch and move together.

  • Connection is about relationships, belonging and feeling cared for. These experiences play an important role in how kids feel and grow.

Kids benefit from time with friends, caregivers and their community, where they feel seen, supported and included. These moments help build confidence, emotional awareness and a sense of identity and belonging.

This might look like talking, playing, sharing time together, showing kindness, expressing gratitude or simply being present with one another.

  • Rest and reset are about creating time to slow down, recharge and notice what we need. These moments help support both body and mind.

Kids benefit from routines and opportunities that support rest throughout the day, including sleep, quiet time and moments to pause and reset. These experiences can support focus, mood and overall well-being as kids grow.

This might look like having a bedtime routine, taking quiet breaks, spending time away from screens, doing creative activities like art, music or reading, or simply pausing to take a breath.
